Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi Ms. Sheila Dixit, announced a scheme CHACHA NEHRU SEHAT YOJNA in her budget speech on 22nd March 2011, under which there is provision of medical coverage and basic health care services to estimated population of approximately 31 lakh students involving Delhi Govt. schools, Delhi Govt. aided schools/ MCD/ NDMC &Delhi Cantonment board schools. The scheme has been approved by Department of Planning and Finance Department and currently is on its first phase of implementationcovering Delhi Govt. and Delhi Govt. Aided schools only.
Jagran Pehel is one of the important implementing partners to this first phase of one of the flagship program of the country and is presently undertaking these health check-up camps in a total of 25 schools in the areas of Jama Masjid, Race Course, Jhandewalan, Ajmeri gate &NaiSarak of Central Delhi district.
Pehel contributes to a total of 5 Chacha Nehru SehatYojana (CNSY) teams consisting of a medical health practitioner (doctor), a Public Health Nurse (PHN) and a Data Entry Operator (DEO) who are elementary in ascertaining the health status of the school children as well as creating a comprehensive database of the students. On an average across 300 students are getting screened each day in the campaign and the team would cover a total of approx. 14000 students during the program period.
